Mary's Market Bazzar Welcome to my future strategy, and proposed system of Quality Management for my small online retail outlet “Mary’s Market Bazzar”.
Having delved into this, and learned a lot about different systems, being used throughout the business world, and knowing now, that the list of management principles, is indeed quite comprehensive – I cannot help thinking as a sole trader, that simplest is best. What works for a large or medium sized business - will not only – not work for me – but indeed, it is financially impossible!
So, what to do? as quality is still paramount obviously, if I am to maintain, and be successful?
Starting a first business over a year ago, “Mary’s Digital Market” – (which is mostly, project based, as it is digital marketing, involving setting up websites, and creating social media advertising for clients) was becoming a slow climb, and as someone remarked quite rightly “ in the meantime you need a milking cow” I had already come to the same conclusion, and had endeavoured to start a second venture. Happy to report, that this has happened, and to my surprise! – even though it was, what I theoretically envisaged – the second business has taken off much better, and indeed much faster, than the initial business, giving me that long awaited badly needed dairy euphemism of “weekly income”.
I am sourcing the ladies clothing, which is the main product that I am selling, from Asian Markets - The items being manufactured in China. The items are priced very reasonably but are of a really good quality. Long gone are the days when consumers regarded Chinese wares as” cheap and tacky” and I can verify whole heartedly, that, they are not that.
So, the quality of eastern products over the last forty years, has not just improved, but they are passing out US, and European products, not only for price, and quality for that price range, but also, ultimate efficiency, in how they are produced, and brought to market. So how do I translate that into a plan, and a message, for my small entity, which is at the end of this global process? For me, the answer has been” Customer Service” and lots of it.
I have adopted this policy for my Quality Management System - “Great Customer Service and work backwards from that”! I am endeavouring to integrate customer needs, and deliver consistency, and efficiency, via an informal system, and so far, it is working very well.
